CWL News

ALL LADIES are welcome to join us at our CWL meeting on Monday, January 21, in the Parish Centre’s classroom.

We will begin with the Rosary at 7:00pm, followed shortly

after with a guest from the Justice & Mercy Committee, who will outline their projects that assist the less fortunate within

the community. (How can we assist or complement their

good works?)


Cookies for School Lunch Program

Cookies are needed for the Kid’s Lunch Program,

NO PEANUTS PLEASE. Mark the  cookies “CWL” and put them in the parish kitchen on the 3rd Sunday of the month or drop them off at the CWL Meeting on January 21 at 7:00pm.

CWL Membership dues for 2019 are being

accepted. The fee is $25.00.  Cheques to be made out to

“St. Mary’s CWL”. Dues can be put into the weekend Mass collection with the envelope clearly marked CWL.

2019 K of C Annual WHEELCHAIR SUNDAY Fundraiser

The Knights of Columbus annual Wheelchair Sunday fundraising drive for St. Mary’s Parish is February 3-24. Over the last four years, our parish has raised $44,235 and sent 232 wheelchairs to the

Philippines, Ukraine and our local Red Deer Lending Cupboard.

A wheelchair costs $195 and this year we again will be providing

10 wheelchairs to the Red Deer Lending Cupboard and the rest will go to KENYA.  You can donate after all Masses on

February 02/03 or February 23/24, or drop your donation off at the Parish office or in the Sunday collection any time before the end of February. Donation forms will be available at either

entrance of the church during the

campaign. Please use an envelope clearly labelled

Knights of Columbus Wheelchair Sunday Drive

and make cheques out to “Canadian Wheelchair Foundation”.

Called to Protect Session

Safe Environments and Abuse Prevention

Called to Protect is the abuse prevention training program required for all staff, clergy, and volunteers in the Archdiocese of Edmonton. Through videos and group discussion, participants in a Called to Protect training session learn tools to identify

inappropriate behaviours, methods to report potential abuse, and best practices in ministering safely to the young and vulnerable.

If you are or want to be involved in a ministry at

St. Mary’s Parish, you must complete a

Called to Protect Session.

  2019 Sunday Offering Envelopes

The 2019 Sunday Offering Envelopes are available at the front doors for pick up. If you do not have envelopes and would like some designated to you, please stop by or call the parish office during office hours.

Pre-authorized debit is also available.




If you have recently moved, please contact the parish

office with your new address. We will be mailing out tax receipts over $20 in the New Year.



Volunteers Needed

We are in need of Hospitality Ministers for all Masses, especially the 7:00pm Mass. If you are interested in becoming part of this ministry, please call the parish office at 403-347-3114.


Michener Centre

On Tuesday mornings, volunteers visit Michener Centre clients where they sing and give Communion to

Catholics. Please call the office if you are interested.




On Friday mornings, volunteers bring the Eucharist to the residents, and gather them in the  recreation room for a Service or Mass. Once a month, Father Len gives Mass and anoints all those present. Please contact Ed Shields at 403-346-6320.

  Red Deer Catholic Youth Ministry

Edge Catholic Middle School Youth Group meets every Thursday except for the first Thursday of the month at

Sacred Heart Parish

7:00-8:30pm. Grades 6-9


If you would like to be an Edge leader or would like to be involved in Youth Ministry, High School Youth Ministry takes place at

St. Joseph and Notre Dame High Schools on a monthly basis.

The Women's Shelter is always in need of new ladies and

children's pajamas of all sizes.


 St. Patrick's School is in need of non-perishable food. Please consider donating the following items to help: Fruit cups, puddings, nut-free cereal bars, juice boxes, and cheese and cracker snack packs.



Unfortunately, there are those who will take advantage of unlocked cars with valuables inside.  Please ensure your doors are locked and keep valuables with you. Thank you in advance for your help with this!
