1st Reconciliation

DATES AT THE SCHOOL - with Fr Mirek Kostarzewski:

Day of Reconciliation at your child's SCHOOL - What to expect and prepare for as a parent

The Priest will introduce themselves to the child and ask their name.

He will then visit for a bit with the child so that they are comfortable.

The child and Father will walk through all parts of Reconciliation and then give them Penance to do.

When you as a parent see them at the end of the day, hug them, congratulate them,

ask them about their gift around their neck and ask them if they have done their penance yet.

Penance is often completed in a quiet private space especially if they are asked to do prayers.

Once finished, please CELEBRATE. Session 3 has a few suggestions on "How to Celebrate."

DATES AT THE CHURCHwith Fr Mirek Kostarzewski:

Day of Reconciliation at the CHURCH - What to expect and prepare for as a parent

If you are coming to the church, introduce your child to Father.

Say something positive about your child when you are introducing them.

Let your child go to the Priest and reassure them that you will be right there when they come back.

When your child is finished walking through Reconciliation, hug themcongratulate them,

ask them about their gift around their neck and remind them to do their penance right away.

Penance is often completed in the church especially if they are asked to do prayers.

Once finished, please CELEBRATE. Session 3 has a few suggestions on "How to Celebrate."

What if my child if scared or not ready?

If your child is scared, please reassure them that Father just wants to visit with them.

Anything that they say to Father will NEVER be repeated, even to your parents.

If you feel your child is not ready to receive, then we can plan another time to make this happen.

This Sacrament can be in a more comfortable place for the child with the parent attending.

Please let us know if this is the case for your child and we can discuss other options.
